When your lips feel chapped and dry, it’s tempting to reach for heavy, occlusive products to try to make them feel and look healthy again. But, these heavier products can lead to milia, clogged pores, and even pustules lining the lips. If you’re prone to developing these, consider swapping up your lip product. Instead of reaching for lip balms made with petrolatum, mineral oil, silicones, or coconut oil – which can lead to the formation of milia, clogged pores – reach for products including: peptides, squalane, ceramides, shea butter . . . all of which will nourish your lips without exacerbating those other issues. One of my FAVORITE NEW products to reach for is, of course, our Tri-Liptide Peptide Lip Enhancing Treatment, which tested non-comedogenic (I know it's not an exact science, but it's better than the comedogenic ratings based on individual ingredients which we all agree is flawed... no, we are not rabbits). Check it out in the link in my bio and in my stories! I’m so excited for you to try this product- I know your lips will LOVE it! #dermatologist #drwhitneybowe #chappedlips #lips #lipproducts #milia
You know how sometimes, using lip balm feels like a quick fix for dry lips, but then they end up feeling even more chapped afterward? It's like, what gives, right? Well, here's the deal: Some lip balms contain ingredients like menthol or camphor that give you that instant cooling sensation. But the thing is, these ingredients can actually dry out your lips in the long run, especially if you're constantly reapplying. Plus, some balms have ingredients that create a barrier on your lips, which can prevent them from naturally moisturizing themselves. So, it's kind of like a temporary relief that leads to a not-so-great cycle of dryness. That's why it's super important to check the ingredients and maybe opt for balms with hydrating ingredients like shea butter or coconut oil instead. #lipbalm #lipbalmaddict #aestheticeducator #drylips
