Let’s talk about Cutis Verticis Gyrata (CVG), aka “Bulldog Scalp Syndrome.” This wild and rare condition can turn the scalp into a brain look-alike! CVG is most common in males after puberty. It causes thick, spongy folds and grooves on the scalp that mimic the twists and turns of the brain. The exact cause of CVG is still a mystery-some blame collagen buildup, others think it’s hormonal because it pops up after puberty.
CVG can be a condition a person is born with, but it can also occur later in life with conditions such as acromegaly, amyloidosis, syphilis, or inflammatory scalp diseases. In some cases, it can be linked to neurological conditions like microcephaly and epilepsy.
Photo 1 shows a 37-year-old male with a history of congenital rubella, microcephaly, and seizures.
Complications from CVG can occur because the deep folds mixed with the warmth from the head are a breeding ground for bacteria and fungus that can lead to infections, itchiness, and a funky odor.
Treatment for this condition is most commonly done for aesthetic purposes. (Photos 2-4) Unfortunately, the treatment for CVG is not easy and requires multiple surgeries including adding a tissue expander to stretch the normal skin surrounding the folds, removing the folds, and stretching the side skin over to close the defect.

Had I known my body was going to reject my #implants I would have gotten the #diepflapreconstruction instead of #tissueexpanders and saved me a lot of time and a lot of pain 😩. This is is how it started and this is how it’s going ❤️. How would I have known? This is why I’m sharing my journey #fyp

🙈🙊🙉 just over here pretending I got a mommy make over 🤣 my breast reconstruction surgery was yesterday and it went well! I’m in lots of pain but once the pain meds kick in I feel okay#breastreconstruction #triplenegativebreastcancer #singlemastectomy #tissueexpander #breastcancer #tnbcwarrior #postopsurgery #postopsurgery #fatgrafting #liposuction
I try my hardest to avoid ever touching the areas where the tissue expander are so this really make my stomach turn 😖

This is a question that everyone has, but few are brave enough to ask…
The vaginal tissue is meant to expand- It doesn’t “stretch” during childbirth it’s more of an “unwinding”.
During the first 6 weeks postpartum the tissue slowly winds back up.. you or your partner really shouldn’t notice a difference.
Are there circumstances where it winds back up too tight, or not enough? For sure, and that’s where we as pelvic floor therapists come in!
