This may shock you… but this is not a dog. 🐔 Meet BarkBeak, the chachalaca—yes, that's its actual name! This noisy little bird recently arrived at our rescue center here in Costa Rica. Famous for their loud, raucous calls, chachalacas are basically nature’s alarm clocks. They’re part of the chicken family, though we like to think of them as chickens with a bit of an attitude. Found in tropical areas like Costa Rica, they might not be the flashiest bird in the jungle, but they certainly make their presence known. We're keeping a close eye on this feisty new arrival, making sure it’s safe and comfortable in our care. After all, every animal that comes through our doors—whether it squawks, chirps, or roars—deserves a second chance.
