Have you ever experienced this before? This is a condition called seborrheic dermatitis - which is a common, noncontagious skin condition that results in itchy red patches and greasy scales on your skin along with white or yellow crusty or powdery flakes on your scalp or face. A 2021 investigating the cutaneous manifestations (skin symptom) of PCOS found that 43% of women with PCOS experience seborrhea. Following only acne and hirsutism in how common it is among women with PCOS. Seborrhea is generally diagnosed by dry, flaking scales on the scalp (dandruff or pityriasis) or red / inflamed patches with yellow-gray scales that most commonly appear on the face, scalp, upper chest, and back. So what's the link to PCOS? There are a few triggers for seborrhea caused by PCOS: ⚠️ Elevated androgens (Sebaceous glands in the skin are targeted by androgens) ⚠️ Stress ⚠️ Higher BMI ⚠️ Inflammation So what can be done to treat seborrheic dermatitis? ✅ There are a number of gels, creams or shampoos that your doctor or derm may prescribe ✅ There are also over-the-counter dandruff shampoos containing selenium sulfide, zinc pyrithione, or coal tar can control symptoms ✅ Also, following a holistic PCOS plan that helps address the underlying hormonal and inflammatory drivers is also key! 🔗 Link in bio for: Science-based supplements 💊 or 1-1 Coaching 🙋🏽♀️ #pcosawareness #pcos #pcosskincare

Perioral dermatitis is a red rash that circles the mouth and the periocular and paranasal skin. The skin turns scaly and flaky with inflamed bumps. It can itch and burn. Topical antibiotics (Clindamycin or Erythromycin), Azelaic acid gel and Sulphur preprations are being used for treatment of PD. #eczema #dermatitis #perioraledermatitis #skincare
TO GET RID OF PD: make sure to use azelaic acid and aloe vera and cermaide creams first to make sure its not just irritation and a damaged skin barrier! If this persists use topical antibiotics (clindamycin or erythromycin) follow for more!💗 #acne #acnetreatment #acneskin #acneproneskin #skincareproducts #skincare101 #skincareviral #skincaretiktok #skincaretips
