#CapCut Preparing for high altitude in a place like Cusco involves gradual acclimatisation, staying hydrated, eating well and lots of rest. I was in Cusco for 4 days and wanted to share a few tips on how to prepare for the altitude: [save/share this video for when you travel to Cusco, Peru 🇵🇪] 🌬️ Acclimatise - it’s important to spend a day or so in Cusco before venturing to higher altitudes to allow your body to adjust gradually, e.g., we did the Sanctuary and Machu Picchu before Rainbow mountain. 💧 Stay Hydrated - I love me some water, drinking plenty of water and coco leaves tea to combat the effects of dehydration at high altitudes is important. I would suggest avoid drinking alcohol. 🏃‍♀️ Physical Activity- I already go gym 3 times a week and try to hit 10k steps a day so felt my body was prepared the high altitude especially for the hike up rainbow mountain 🍲 Balanced Diet - eating foods rich in carbohydrates and avoid heavy, fatty meals will help your body cope with the altitude better. Not eating can lead to worsening your body to adjust and acclimatising. 💊 Altitude Sickness Medication - there are things you can take like plasters for motion sickness or alpaca perfumes to breathe. We was lucky to have @gojolley who was always on deck with the tools but consulting with a healthcare professional about altitude sickness medication, before your travels is very important especially if you have a history of altitude-related issues. Remember, everyone’s body reacts differently to altitude, so listen to your body and don’t hesitate to seek medical attention if needed. I hope this helps and do save this for when you visit Cusco, Peru. 📌 Are there any tips I’ve missed? Drop them below so we can help each other. #altitudesickness #peru #cusco #rainbowmountain #altitudesicknessisreal #blackbritishinperu
