🏠🐓 Here is the video you all have been asking for! It’s finally time for an official COOP TOUR. As a busy mom with multiple careers, our coop has always been a work in progress. It’s taken 2 years to finish all the little details in the coop (like the wallpaper!) which is why it’s taken so long for me to put this together! All good things come with time. Now, here we are! I’m highlighting all the cool features in our coop, accessories that make chicken-keeping easier, and touring the outdoor fenced setup as well. This coop is where our Bee Jeweled Coop journey started. Sharing this journey of mine, connecting with all of you, and my desire to help people made me realize that we could support so many people in their own chicken-keeping journey. 🏠 You asked for building plans, and we created them for you! 🎤 Your questions in my comments are making more how-to videos 💙 Your request for tools to clean your coops led me to design our new Coop Scoop™ Thank you for being here on this journey with me! If this inspires you to create your own coop, or if you spotted something in this video that could make your life easier, I want to help. 👉🏼 I curated a list of all the accessories, bedding, and tools I use in my coop + the coop building plans to help you build it! ✨ I have the list saved in my profile for you! ✨ #cooptour #diychickencoop #chickencoop #buildingplans #chickenkeeping #backyardchickens #chickenkeeper #coopessentials #chickencoopplans #chickencoopideas #petchickens #beejeweledcoop #chickencoopsoftiktok

Here are all the answers to your questions from my post yesterday! 🐓🏠🧹 You all are so awesome! I have loved talking with you and answering your questions about chicken coop cleaning. If you missed the video, go check out my last tiktok where I show my daily coop cleaning process. Here are the answers to some of the biggest questions I got: 1. Why not hay or shavings? - first, I like to clean every day and these are not every-day-cleaning friendly. Second, straw and hay can cause an impacted crop. Shavings can harbor bacteria and fungus. I also learned from my followers that they can attract red mites! 2. How often do you replace the bedding? - I replace every 3-6 months. I went the longest over the winter at 6 months and I just had to add more bedding when it got low. I will never have to replace the sand but I might need to add more. 3. Where do you get the sand and bedding? - sand you can find at your local landscape company. The coffee ground bedding is made by Powered By Coffee and sold at Rural King. They’re out of stock because it’s spring cleaning season but keep checking back. They’ll restock eventually. My other product suggestion would be hemp bedding by Eaton Pet and Pasture. 4. What about chicken pee? - chickens don’t pee like other animals. Their pee and poop is one in the same. The white part in chicken poop is the “pee”. So you don’t have to worry about it! 5. Where do they lay the eggs? - in the nesting box! It’s on the bottom left side of the coop. 6. Where do you get your coop? - we built it! If you’re interested in building one just like it, I have the plans available. You know where to check ☺️ If I missed anything, let me know! I have to end with saying this.. I never thought I would talk about chicken poop this much in my life 🤣 #chickencoop #cleancoop #happychickens #healthychickens #chickenkeepingtips #backyardchickens #chickenkeeper #chickencoopsoftiktok #diychickencoop

Foraging is such an important activity for the flock. Most #chickenkeepers notice pecking issues increase during winter. It’s that time of year when there is less to do so they pick on each other more. PS…We love @Scratch and Peck Feeds ! Did you know you can get a discount on their feed, treats, grit and oyster shells with my code 🐔purelychickens15🐔?! #scratchandpeckfeeds #organicchickenfood #chickenfeed #chickens #scratchandpeck #organicchickenfeed #foraging #winterchickentips #chickenenrichment #chickenentertainment

Here’s the deets on some of the chicken keeping things I mentioned in the video! 🐓 💛 Feeder & Feed: Since the chickens are molting, I like to switch them over to a higher protein feed. @scratchandpeckfeeds just came out with a new 18% pellet feed that I’m excited to try out! Since I’m switching from crumbles to pellets, I need to raise the plate on my @rentacoop feeder to allow more of the pellets to come down in the trough. 💙 Coop Scoop™️! I know a lot of you are waiting for this new chicken keeping tool and I cannot thank you enough for all of your patience and support. We would not be here without you! We designed the Coop Scoop to help chicken keepers keep their coop clean and we’re so much closer to making that happen. They’ll be available in November! If you want to get on the wait list to grab one first, check out the COOP SCOOP link in my profile. 🩶 Sand & Coconut update: The new dust free sand is working really well. (I’m helping a company test it and it should be coming to market soon🤞🏼) But I’m looking for ways to reduce the moisture on the shelf by adding something to the sand. I’ve tried hemp, which worked alright. More recently I tried some left over coconut chips I had laying around and that did not work well because of the large size. I’m going to try some PDZ next, hoping that will not create more dust. 🩵 Nutriplex by @betterflock — I’m excited to try this out! Before now, I’ve only added oregano oil to their water. I’m hoping this supplement will help my chickens through their molt. If you thought of something I didn’t cover here, please ask me in the comments! 🫶🏼🐓 Happy chicken keeping & stay safe out there!
