Time to break down the art of "Base Breaking" - it's like the ultimate haircolor refresh button! 💥✨ You may know it as a "Base Bump," "Base Illumination," or by some other creative name, but the goal is always the same: lower the contrast between the root color and the highlight.
Now, here's the scoop: Base Breaking is always going to lead to warm results. If you have someone who is a natural level 6 or higher, you’ll get neutral to neutral warm results.
If you want icy, you may want to avoid shifting the natural color all together and pack in a lot of foils.
As always, thanks for tuning in! ALSO I have a class on Monday 10/23 on Zoom with SalonCentric that is all about COPPER HAIR if you want the details, comment “COPPER” below and I’ll send you a message. #hairstylist #haircolor #basebreaker

I used the @SchwarzkopfUSA Blondme Base Breaker in Soft Cool with 20 colume for 10 minutes for these results. I loooooove a good base break but not everyone is a candidate! If you have a client who doesnt want to see any warmth at all then this is not a good service add on for them. #basebreak #basebreaker #haireducation #haircolor #fyp #foryoupage
Highlighting and base breaking tips, LETS GO:
1. When highlighting make sure your lightener is working for you, not against you. I start in the back with @Schwarzkopf Professional #Blondme precision lightener. This one is a bit thicker and only offers 7 levels of lift. This is perfect because she’s already lifted to a very warm dark blonde so I start in the back with 7 volume and by the time I’ve finished the front and top I’m up to Blondme 9+ lightener with 20 volume so it all finishes at the same time.
2. Apply your product off of the root and push it up. But don’t let it go past the edge, that’s when you get bleeders! Think about the edge of that foil like a cliff, you don’t want to go over it with your brush.
3. Keep a smaller skinny brush on hand for detail work, especially around the hairline. Because my client highlights her hair every 6 weeks there’s a high risk of overlap and breakage and a clean tiny brush helps with that a lot!
4. Mix Blondme’s Soft Cool and Cool base breakers with 20 volume and leave in for ten minutes after you apply for this result on a natural level 6.

Redken base breaker in shade cool has become one of my staples for bright money pieces. Sometimes the root smudge can darken the face frame more than I want so this is perfect!! I normally mix it 1:1 with 20 volume and apply it at the sink. (For fragile or fine hair use 10 volume) Then I mix my toner and root smudge while it processes!!🧑🍳 💋 #hairstylistsoftiktok #redkenshadeseq #hairstylisteducation #haircolorspecialist #moneypiecetutorial #redkenbasebreaker #hairstylisttips
