I used to have panic attacks at least once a day for a couple of years, and these tools honestly saved my life. Of course, not every tool works for every person, and this is not a replacement for working with a license, mental health professional, but I wanted to share this in case it helps somebody else ❤️ 1. Redirection: whenever I feel stressed or panic coming up in my mind, your body, I redirect my attention to something else that is true, factual, and either positive or neutral in the present moment. This allows my body time to process and let go of that stress. 2. I use my imagination every single day! I highly recommend visualizing a safe place and really engaging in that imagery to teach the body what it feels like to be safe. I also recommend mentally rehearsing future situations that you’re nervous about and imagining yourself handling it well. This teaches the brain how to respond differently and it has been life-changing for me. It’s much easier to be guided through imagery based practices especially when we are dysregulated, so I made an app! I have a Hypnosis app called Doddle, that has over 100 guided sessions for so many areas of your life. There’s a section specifically called mood shifters that are sessions under five minutes designed to help you get out of a stress response fast. Doddle is free to try for seven days and you can find it at the 🔗 on my profile! #emi#emilieleyes r#stressrelief x#anxietyrelief r#nervoussystemregulation l#selfcare n#mentalhealth y#psychology a#braintraining o#groundingtechique p#hypnosis x#anxiety l#selfhealing
Sour candies like Warheads can help interrupt a panic or anxiety attack! The intense sourness can act as a sensory “shock” to the system, pulling your focus away from racing thoughts or overwhelming feelings of anxiety. This sudden shift in focus activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which can help calm you down. This works similarly to other grounding techniques. It can serve as a quick trick to break the cycle during an acute episode, giving you enough pause to regain a sense of control. Ultimately, any candy with a strong sour flavor can work, but the stronger and more intense the sourness, the better it will serve as a sensory “shock.” 🎥 via @Lindsay Kelly #anxiety #panicattack #stressedout #doctoradvice #homeremedies #sourcandy

Words have consciousness and anxiety is a subjective feeling. Don’t believe me? Interview 15 people and ask them how anxiety shows up in their body… many will have different answers. But the word “anxiety” creates similar FEELINGS when thought about. Try this: what do you FEEL when you THINK about anxiety? ➖fear ➖tension ➖tightness ❕❕❕Going forward I would like you to EITHER A) NAME your anxiety something different, like Alfred or pikachu. Whenever you are feeling it, address it by its name Or B) name anxiety “ALARM” THIS IS STEP ONE. ❕❕❕ This post is rooted in neuroscience with a basic understanding of the reticular activating system(RAS) “the RAS seeks information that validates your beliefs. It filters the world through the parameters you give it, and your beliefs shape those parameters. If you think you are bad at giving speeches, you probably will be. If you believe you work efficiently, you most likely do.” IF YOU THINK YOU ARE EXPERIENCING ANXIETY AND ALL THAT IS TIED UP IN THAT FEELING- YOU WILL GO DOWN THAT SIMILAR PATH. RETRAIN the brain to a new neural system and new relationship to the anxiety feeling. #anxiety #anxietytips #mentalhealth #therapytok #anxietyrelief
