DIY Gut-Friendly Fruit Sodas🥤🍎🍊 Making your own fermented fruit sodas at home is really quite easy and today I’m making apple and ginger, an orange, and beetroot and apple just for the colour alone! I start by adding some of my ginger bug starter culture, made from fermenting ginger, unrefined sugar and filtered water for 3-5 days. check out my recent ‘ginger bug’ post for the full process. I strain some of it out and add that to a glass bottle followed by the freshly juiced fruit and vegetables, you could use store bought juice, just make sure it contains plenty of natural sugars and is ideally unpasteurised, you could add a little unrefined sugar or maple syrup to ensure fermentation if your unsure. The majority of the sugar will be absorbed by the yeasts and bacteria throughout the fermentation process, releasing co2 which creates the bubbles. The longer it ferments, the less sugar. You could also dilute them down with filtered water, but I juiced too much, so I’m just going straight juice! 😅 I then store them at room temperature for around 3 days, or until I see bubbles forming, at which point I pop them in the fridge to slow the ferment and just enjoy the probiotic rich fruit sodas over the next few weeks or so. Just remember to burp them (release the co2 build up) daily to ensure the don’t explode. 🤯🥤 What flavour combinations would you make? #fermentation #probiotics #fruitsoda #fermented #guthealth #guthealthmatters #probioticdrink #vegetablegarden #organicfood #healthysoda
