📍City Tavern | Newcastle @City Tavern Restaurant Week The second place we visited during restaurant week in Newcastle was the City Tavern of Northumberland Street, a cozy pub with a classic pub menu. We went for the evening menu which was 2 cources for £20. 🍽️ My friend and I both opted for the fish and chips (the chips were propper chunky pub chips 10/10), my mum ordered the chicken burger with fries, and my friends mum got the BBQ jackfruit burger with chips. The portion sizes were not small but not too big - definitely filled me up though and the food was so fresh and flavourful; their menu was full of hearty warming dishes such as fish and chips, fish pie, steak and ale pie, etc. The only complaint was that when we went to order dessert we were told the kitchen was closed, no one had pre-warned us this was happening; therefore, we ended up just getting a main for £15 each (which I did think was a bit steep). The place was also so busy during the day that they had run out of quite a few items (aka. all the dishes I had in mind when I booked the restaurant); although, I can’t blame them, and it is testament to their popular and delicious food. But their drinks were quite expensive, especially for wine where a regular glass was £9!!! They are a really nice venu with a classic cozy and warming pub aesthetic, the staff were really kind and were really reasuring and knowledgeable about the menu - as so many of their dishes were gluten free they were able to reassured us that they didn’t cross contaminate and used separate equipment which was super comforting. #citytavern #dinnerout #restaurantweek #newcastle #newcastleupontyne #pubvibes #pub #pubgrub #newcastledinner #aestheticsvibes #eveningout #dinnerdeals #foryoupage #fyp
