Obviously we have goals during speech therapy, but my main focus is on following the child’s lead and adjusting the way I play accordingly in order to target their goals through play. Children learn through play, so have fun and get silly with it!! #slp #speechtherapy #pedsslp #momtips #babydevelopment #playideasforbaby #toddlerlanguagedevelopment #speechdelay #earlyintervention #parenttips #speechpathologist
Using intraverbal fill-ins are great way to help get your child to start talking more! They are fun, repetitive, consistent, and encourage imitation. Here are a couple examples of ways I use them during speech therapy sessions! #slp #speechtherapy #pedsslp #earlyintervention #babytips #momtips #babydevelopment #speechdelay #parenttips #speechpathologist #playideasforbaby

Have you ever thought about becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) ?? This is a brief overview to list out the steps needed in the US. The average time to complete all the requirements is 6-7 years (less if you already have the prerequisites for graduate school). Remember that the specific steps and requirements may vary depending on your location and institution you attend. It is essential to check with the state, licensing board, and the program you plan to attend for the most accurate and up-to-date information. #speechtherapy #slp #professional #career

Here’s 7 Tips to start to build your child’s early labguage and communication skills. We started singing songs from the day we brought our little guy home, so it’s never too early to get started!
1. Get face to face with your child, so that they can see your face, mouth and facial expressions
2. Create opportunities for your child to take a turn in their own way - this could be through a vocalisation, word, action, pointing to a picture, sign, or whatever it is your child is able to do to communicate
3. Pause and wait to give your child an opportunity to take their turn
4. Model actions and gestures
5. Adjust your speed of singing (without sounding unnatural or robotic) to give your child enough time to process.
5. Repeat, repeat, repeat
6. Keep it fun
7. Tune into your child’s level of attention, regulation and engagement - perhaps adding some gentle movement if they like this sensation.
…oh and above all else, have fun and use this as an opportunity to connect and tune into your child. 🥰
