Beneficial nematodes:
Part 1 of the 7 high maintenance things I do each season so that the rest of the season my garden is low maintenance and organic
Beneficial nematodes are microscopic worms that parasitize pest larvae and release bacteria into the pests eliminating them in about 7-10 days.
In good conditions they can live in the soil for several months reproducing inside of pests as they parasitize them.
In Central Florida I spray them once per year in late winter or early Spring when temperatures will be 44-83F for 1-2 weeks.
Keep nematodes refrigerated until use
Mix with 60-70 F water prior to application
Apply on a rainy day, cloudy day or at dusk as direct sunlight will kill them
Apply with a watering can or a sprayer
Water before and after application
Keep soil moist for 1-2 weeks

Calendula is how you go from defense to offense on all those garden pests!
Plus it's edible too! Try it in your tea for a pop of color!

These are the only 2 garden treatments you need in your gardening arsenal! They will take care of the majority of the pests and diseases you will encounter.
BT or Spinosad spray - organic/OMRI rated - kills chewing types of insects like worms. Spinosad will also kill soft bodied types of insects. Find the same spinosad (Monterey Garden Insect Spray), I use by following my link to Amazon in my bio, and check the "Garden Treatments" section.
Hydrogen Peroxide (3%) - Mix 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide per gallon of water and spray every 5-7 days to kill pathogens that spread across the surfaces of leaves causing various types of leaf diseases (like powdery mildew, blights, and spots).

Go to my bio to learn sooo much more about how to prevent pests from destroying your garden!
Did you know that you don't have to spray pesticides to keep pests out of your garden? I use flowers as trap crops to distract pests or completely repel them from the garden. Some flowers even bring in beneficial bugs like bees and butterflies to help pollinate your garden.
