scrap fabric eggs ✂️🥚 These reusable eggs are made from fabric scraps and they’re my favorite plastic-free easter egg alternative. The best part about them is that they store flat. I use a sewing machine to sew them but you can also sew them by hand (using a backstitch if you’d like for them to look similar, or you can use a blanket stitch around the edge if you like a visible decorative stitch. You can even just use fabric glue to piece them together for a no-sew option.
FREE TEMPLATE and full instructions on my blog! The eggs can be adjusted to any size— as is my eggs measure approximately 3” x 3.75” sewn with a 1/8” seam allowance. Link in my profile.

How to make your own felt Easter eggs ✨🌷
This technique was new to me and is called wet felting. The supply list for this one isn’t too crazy, which I think makes it a fun one to try.
Supplies:
1. Wool roving
2. Ribbon
3. Plastic Easter egg
4. Nylon stocking
5. Hot water + dish soap
Things I would change for the next egg:
1. I don’t love the ribbon but it was in my scrap pile and I think the contrasting color for the ribbon is cute.
2. I would prefer to have the blanket stitch blend with the egg I think. Next time I won’t contrast that element.
Not shown in the video: after I finished my blanket stitch, I did one more round of hot water and soap to get some of the inside wool that wasn’t fully felted. I think with more practice with wet felting that could probs be avoided.

felted wool eggs 🥚 All you need is wool to make these reusable eggs that you can decorate and keep for decades. Here’s my favorite wet felting method for making them with a shortcut option added in. For this technique you’ll use a washing machine and an old pair of pantyhose or tights. I use core batting for the base because it is economical and felts quickly with a uniform look and the designs are added using wool roving.

I did my first attempt at wet felting to make a set of easter eggs for my toddler. Clearly my technique needs some work, the final product definitely should not be so lumpy. I’m going to try again tonight with a slightly smaller egg as the base and using thinner layers of the wool felt.
Check back tomorrow for try 2 🙈
