💫Our children range from age 18 to 3 weeks old. All of our children over the age of 7 does his/her own laundry. 👀😲 💫 Each person in our family has his/her own laundry basket. The dirty laundry stays in his/her bedroom or bathroom until their designated laundry day (more on that below). Keeping laundry separated by person eliminates the need for sorting out 11 people’s clothes! 🙌🏽 💫This self-accountability in our laundry routine keeps our children responsible for their own things. None of that, “I can’t find my (insert random clothing item here)”…well, where’d YOU put it, kid?! 🫠 💫Dirty laundry stays in each person’s own bathroom or bedroom until their laundry day because it keeps clothes from piling up in the laundry room and dying a slow…painful…death until we get to it. Can you imagine what dirty laundry piled up from 11 folks looks like?! 😳 💫The only dirties that go in the laundry room are dish towels, cleaning rags, random towels left around the house for whatever reason, and the baby’s cloth diapers. And they each have a designated basket there as well. 💫 On each person’s laundry day, he/she is responsible for washing and drying their own clothes, bedding, towels, washcloths, ect. They are then responsible for getting it folded/hung and put away. (I know, I’m a genius!) 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 🏆 💫 For the children too young to do their own laundry, I do their laundry on designated days as well. Except for when I have a baby in diapers (as we do currently)- I wash cloth diapers every other day, regardless of designated days because 🤢. 💫The little boys (ages 7, 5, & 3) are still responsible for helping me put their clothes away each week. (Gotta lower your expectations and standards on this part, people 😏) That’s the thing about routines and running a household - you have to find what works best for your family and lifestyle. As a busy homeschooling family with 9 children (one is off in college, but still), this is what works for us. 🧺 If all else fails, you could always hire a laundry service or move your family to a nudist colony. 🤷🏽♀️🤣🧺
