Snowboard profiles, explanation part 1. There are numerous of snowboard profiles to choose from. Let's take a deeper dive into their strengths and weaknesses. Generally there are three types of profile: Rocker, Camber and Hybrid Profile. However, Hybrid profiles also can be different. 1. Rocker All the boards that have this shape with lowest point between the legs and lifted nose and tail. + Lifted contact points prevent edge catching and forgive mistakes. + Good floating in powder. + Easy to do ground tricks. - Poor edge control in higher speeds and icy conditions. - Harder to perform pencil line carving. Must have for beginners. Good for ground tricks and for jibbing. 2. Flat profile Board is completely flat from the widest part on the nose, till the widest part on the tail. + Good compromise between edge control and forgiveness. + Easy to get used to this profile. + Great for ground tricks. - It's not floating in powder. - After some time it could become rocker. Good choice for intermediate riders. Work well for freestyle lovers. 3. Camber Full camber from widest point on nose to widest point on tail. + Perfect edge control. + Good for bigger speed and carving - Not forgiving mistakes - Harder to do ground tricks and do rotations on the board. Good choice for advanced riders who know how to handle the speed.
