When I talk about spoon debt as an ADHD business owner, it’s in reference to the concept of spoon theory 🥄 Spoon theory is the idea that a normal human has relatively an infinite amount of spoons... People with chronic conditions have a limited amount of spoon to spend each day 💜 As a business owner with celiac and ADHD, I have fluctuating spoons to spend on activities in my life. From personal to business.. And what costs me a lot of spoons might not cost you a lot of spoons, spoon costs are unique to the person And spoon costs can vary depending on the day (today writing captions might cost 1 spoon, tomorrow, they cost 2) 💳 Sometimes if you have limited spoons you can go into spoon debt and spend spoons from future you ‼️ Causing high risk for burnout if you’re not careful about replenishing or paying off the debt in the future... For me, going into “spoon debt” is the number one cause for my ADHD burnout...” Traditional business advice and coaching often asks us to go into “spoon debt” by forcing us into rigid business strategies that deplete our spoons quickly Often with no plans on what to do with business strategies if you are having a low spoon day and no plan for recovering from “spoon debt” 💚 While you’re going to have to spend spoons to grow your business ✨ It’s MY job as an ADHD business coach to make sure we’re creating plans that honor your fluctuating spoon levels... ✨ Which means adapting traditional business advice to be more friendly to your ADHD needs. AND creating space and plans to pay off “spoon debt” should you incur any during our time together... 👉 Want to work with me?
