Different types of sewing pins 📍👇🏼 1.) Regular Dressmaker pins: these are usually about 1.25” to 1.5” inches and made of nickel plated steel. They have a medium gauge and suited for most jobs. Because they don’t usually have a plastic or glass ball at the top, you can use them while ironing fabric. 2.) Silk/Satin pins: these are thinner pins with extra fine points to be used with fabrics like silks and satin that are delicate or very tightly woven. The thin gauge of the pin allows it to easily slip through the woven fibers without damaging the fabric. 3.) Ballpoint pins: these are for pinning knits and jerseys. Just like ballpoint needles, ballpoint pins, have a slightly rounded point so they easily slide between the threads of the knit fabric without breaking the threads. 4.) Quilting pins: These are usually thicker and longer because they’re meant to go through many layers of fabric. These usually also have colored balls at the end or fun shaped heads so you can easily find them on your project and don’t get lost in the batting. 5.) Clips!! (Not a pin) 😉 if you are sewing things, like leather, vinyl, or multiple layers, where you either don’t want to make pinholes or it’s just difficult to pierce, then you use the clips!
