Bees make honey to feed themselves, especially during periods of time when nectar from flowers is not easy to get. . To make honey, bees need to collect nectar first. Then they partially digest the nectar inside their digestive system, and finally they dehydrate this product in the hive until it becomes honey. . Most commercially sold honey is filtered and processed. This is done to remove impurities and to create a consistent appearance and texture. . Some honeys are sold raw and unfiltered. These honeys can be more flavorful and nutritious but they also contain impurities such as pollen grains from the flowers that the bees visited; little pieces of beeswax from the beehive; and even little dead insects or fragments of bees’ wings, legs… . For this video I used a Leica ZOOM 200 stereoscope and an Olympus CX31 microscope at up to 400X magnification. #microscopy #microscope #honey #rawhoney #rawunfilteredhoney #pollen #drbioforever
