How I Taught Myself How To Swim In 2 Months It felt completely hopeless getting in the water that first time. But, by breaking all the steps down and working on one thing at a time I was able to make quick progress and now I can swim for 10 times the distance I could just 8 weeks ago. My Quick Tips: 1. Start simple, don’t be afraid to get a snorkel and just work on swimming in general. Get a feel for the water and the basics of the swim stroke 2. Start small, do 25 yds at a time and work your way up. This will help you learn to slow down and be more calm in the water 3. Try out different breathing styles to see what works for you. I tried to breathe like I would when I run, this thought helped me nail down my breathing rhythm.
