whenever I post myself benching, I get a lot of questions about why I “arch” my back. this “arch” is created by retracting my shoulder blades to engage my lats, while also driving through the ground to activate my glutes and generate more power. by retracting my shoulder blades, I create a stable base for pressing, reducing shoulder strain and putting my chest in a stronger position. at the same time, pushing through my feet and engaging my glutes helps with leg drive, which allows me to transfer force efficiently from my lower body to my upper body. this doesn’t mean I’m “lifting with my legs,” but rather using my entire body to support the lift. code: “YASA” to save at @AYBL #upperbodyworkout #workout #gym #workoutmotivation #fitness #trending #backworkout #backday #benchpress #chestworkout
