Happy 77th Birthday to the Beautiful Warrior Queen Ericka Huggins šš
Ericka was born in Washington, D.C. January 5, 1947 & attended Cheyney State College & then Lincoln University were she met her husband John Huggins. They married in 1968. The couple moved to Los Angeles and joined the Black Panther Party. John was murdered in a shoot out leaving Ericka with a 3-week old infant. After the murder Ericka moved to New Haven, Connecticut and organized a new chapter of the Black Panthers along with Kathleen Cleaver & Elaine Brown.
Ericka served in the Panther party for 14 years before becoming a college professor and sociologist. #erickahuggins #blackpantherparty

Ā·2d ago Billie Allen (1925-2015)š¹ Billie Allen was born Wilhelmina Louise Allen in Richmond, Virginia & attended the Hampton Institute, now Hampton University. She moved to New York City during the mid-1940s to pursue acting and dance. She was cast as a dancer in several Broadway productions early in her career & made her film debut with the 1949 race film Souls of Sin. She was later cast as understudy in the part of "Beneatha Younger" in the 1959 Broadway premier production of playwright Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun. Allen starred in many TV roles and in 1973, she joined with actor and founder Garland Lee Thompson, Jr., actor Morgan Freeman and journalist Clayton Riley to establish the Frank Silvera Writers Workshop, located in Harlem where she established herself as an impeccable director, directing such edgy and provocative productions as Kathleen Collins's play The Brothers in 1982, and the musical Miss Ethel Waters. She appeared in the opening sketch for Eddie Murphy Raw (1987).Miss Allen passed away in 2015. #billieallen #billieallenactress
