💛 Trust before training – The Role of the Vagus Nerve 🐴 The most important thing: If your horse feels safe with you, it will naturally be much calmer. Horses seek protection in their herd – if that protection is missing, they become more sensitive to external stimuli. Imagine walking alone through a dark forest 🌲🌙 – every little noise would make you nervous. But if you had a trusted friend with you, you’d feel much more at ease. The reason lies in the autonomic nervous system, specifically the vagus nerve. According to the Polyvagal Theory, social bonds reduce stress. The ventral vagus controls the relaxation response and is activated through social safety. Horses that feel secure – that feel seen, heard, and understood – activate this part of their nervous system, allowing them to stay calm and collected. That’s why trust and emotional connection come first before any type of training. A well-regulated nervous system is the best foundation for a relaxed, confident horse! 💙🐎 👉 If you want to learn exactly how to build this trust step by step, I share all my knowledge with you on my learning platform! 💡📲 Link in Bio #horsetrainer #younghorsetraining #problemhorsetraining #spookyhorse #wildlandhorsemanship

When I think about asking the horse to make the circle smaller, it responds. 🐴✨ Maybe you’ve heard about this before – the horse reacts as if it reads your mind. 🧠🤯 But it’s not magic! 🪄 Our body naturally follows our thoughts, and the horse picks up on those subtle signals. 🤝💫 The ultimate goal is for the horse to respond to the smallest cues, creating a seamless and almost invisible connection. 🌟🤍 #wildlandhorsemanship #horsetraining #liberty #libertyinfluencers #freiheitsdressur #horsetok

Is Your Horse Truly Calm or Just Shut Down?! ➡️😏🐴Many horses enter a state of learned helplessness due to incorrect desensitization methods, where fear is intentionally triggered, and the object is removed once the horse appears calmer. This approach often leads to horses shutting down emotionally—they lose interest, seem detached from their surroundings, and lack motivation. While they may look relaxed, they are often far from it, as they retreat into their own world to cope with the stress. ➡️💛If you’d like to learn how to introduce potentially frightening objects to your horse in a way that keeps them curious and engaged rather than shutting down, I offer a step-by-step guide. This approach is based on understanding how horses think and learn, and it focuses on clear, gradual explanations to keep them confident and willing. 🫶Start Now and Try 7 Days for Free!
