Prepare yourself for a temper tantrum that looks remarkably similar to that of a toddler. And just like a toddler, the most effective way of handling a tantrum is to not give in to their demands. Again, like a toddler, if we let them beat us once, it will reinforce the likelihood of another one the next time they don't get what they want. I'm not saying it won't feel awful and everything in you may be screaming to give in for fear of them following through on their vicious threats-but I hope you'll feel empowered by knowing, this is just what these guys do. It's textbook. Classic. Completely unimaginative. You might even say, "basic." It's like they have a playbook or something that they are all working from. They are trying to make you back down. Don't back down friend. You're so close to your fresh start. Ok, this is when you need to be stealth and strategic. I know it can feel a little off putting because we aren't used to doing things that feel sneaky. But please simply think of it as protecting yourself and your children. You're not doing anything wrong ... I want you to take screen shots of all of your bank accounts-and most importantly, HIS. If he has investment and retirement accounts, do the same with those. Same with credit card debt, savings accounts etc. Know the logins and passwords.
