The Chiefs hosted their new rookies at a rookie minicamp over the weekend, allowing coaches (and the media) a first look at KC’s newest team members — including first round draft pick Xavier Worthy.
Worthy, a speedy receiver from Texas, spoke to reporters before the first practice on Saturday, discussing his slight frame, the thrill of working alongside Patrick Mahomes and his first taste of Kansas City barbecue.

The Kansas men’s basketball team is searching for answers. The Jayhawks, who were ranked No. 1 before the season started, have lost two in a row and four straight road games in Big 12 play. BYU blew out No. 23 Kansas 91-57 on Tuesday night, and the loss tied for the largest margin of defeat of the Self era (34 points) at KU. Naturally, the frustration has mounted. “I thought we were awful and I thought they were great,” Self told reporters after the loss in Provo. ·1w ago Kansas City Royals general manager J.J. Picollo, who just earned a newly minted five-year contract extension, knows there is still work to do. Picollo has aimed to bolster the Royals roster with re-signings and offseason acquisitions. KC re-signed veteran starters Michael Wacha and Michael Lorenzen this offseason. The Royals also swung a trade to acquire leadoff hitter Jonathan India and added closer Carlos Estévez. The Royals finished 86-76 last season. KC snapped an eight-year playoff drought and came up short against the New York Yankees in the American League Divisional Series. This spring, there is a new mentality in Royals camp. The club got a taste of postseason baseball, and now several players want more. ·2-20IBelow-freezing temperatures in KC won’t get in the way of romance. 💐❤️🔥 Kansas City florists already busy with Valentine’s Day orders had to plan around Wednesday’s winter storm. But despite the tricky timing, local florists say they’re prepared to follow up Mother Nature’s winter weather with a visit from Cupid. Over at Tober’s Flowers, it’s been all hands on deck. The longtime KC flower shop had to cancel all deliveries Wednesday, rescheduling them for Thursday and Friday — one of the busiest days of the year for local florists. Heavy snow from the strong winter storm has moved out of the metro, but road conditions remain slick and snow-covered. Lots of schools and businesses closed today for the snow, making for ideal sledding conditions. Get the latest weather news at KansasCity.com. #snow #kansascity #localnews

·2-10Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a shocking night against the Eagles, leading KC to a brutal 40-22 loss in Super Bowl LIX. He threw a pick-six in which — even if cornerback Cooper DeJean had not picked it off — his intended receiver had no chance of a catch. He threw another interception late in the first half, one that all but sealed it. #SuperBowl #PatrickMahomes #Chiefs #ChiefsKingdom

·2-8Taylor Swift’s Pop-Tarts are back in the spotlight after Travis Kelce gushed over them during Super Bowl Opening Night earlier this week in New Orleans. He wasn’t the only one: Star pass-rusher Chris Jones is also a big fan of Swift’s Pop-Tarts. His rating? “Fire.” Perhaps the team will earn some more of Swift’s coveted victory Pop-Tarts at Sunday’s Chiefs-Eagles Super Bowl rematch. #ChrisJones #TaylorSwift #Chiefs #SuperBowl #TravisKelce

·2-7Wichita airport officials and city leaders said they don’t have a list of the 64 passengers and crew members from Flight 5342, and it remains unclear how many of them are Wichitans. “At this time, we don’t have that information, and I know we don’t have the manifest at this moment,” Wichita Mayor Lily Wu said at a news conference Thursday morning. Flight 5342 departed from Wichita’s Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport at 5:18 p.m. on Thursday and collided with an Army Black Hawk helicopter at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport about two and half hours later. The helicopter was carrying three people. All 67 are believed to be dead, D.C.-area search and rescuers said after an overnight search in the frigid water of the Potomac River near the airport.
