The Dutch Church in the City of London, originally given to the London Dutch community by Edward VI, boy king son of Henry VIlI, was allegedly left with a tiny imperfection when rebuilt after WW2 destruction - to avoid paying more money. By the way, the music is practise for a recital taking place tomorrow night. ##dutchchurch ##cityoflondon ##hiddenlondon ##secretlondon ##explorelondon ##placestovisitinlondon ##londontiktok ##tax ##thelondonspy ##davidharry ##taxefficiency

·1d ago This pub contains an extra level of security, dating back to when the jewellers from Hatton Garden selling diamonds and their precious items. The sellers allegedly had theit own security guardn who would use the mirrors in the ceiling above the pub to watch and make sure that no one was cheated when selling. #thelondonspy #davidharry #londonpub #jewellery #jewelthief #hattongardens #londonguide #londonhistory

·4d ago To prevent Victorian up-skirting, Pugin, the designer of the interior of the House of Commons, it is alleged, deliberately left the eyes out of the lions along the central section of the corridors to avoid them being tempted to look at them. I can't think of any other reason why this difference should be there. Amazing facts inside the Houses of Parliament. #thelondonspy #davidharry #housesofparliament #pugin #londonhistory #londontourguide

·6d ago #creatorsearchinsights this amazing coin shows the earliest recorded image of London, from about the year 296 A.D., under the reign of the Emperor Diocletian. It was minted to celebrate the recapture of London from a local governor who had attempted to break away from the Roman Empire and it is probably not particularly accurate to be honest. It just shows some high towers. #davidharry #thelondonspy #romanempire #romanlondon #londonhistory

·6d ago Just opposite each other, are these two astonishing buildings in the heart of London. One is the Tudor survivor called Staple Inn, and the other is the Victorian Gothic Revival former headquarters of the Prudential insurance company called Holborn bars. ##davidharry##thelondonspy##architecture##tudor##londonhistory##londonarchitecture##victorian
