One of my favorite movies of the year. Paul Giamatti is such a fucking legend. My favorite character of his was in this movie. If you haven’t seen The Holdovers yet. Please. Do. Especially if you love actually good holiday movies. This one really tugs on the nostalgia strings.
⁉️Who is your favorite Paul Giamatti character?

There Will Be Blood is a film that, no matter how many times I watch it, feels like the first time. Every time, it hits me. Impacts me. Every time I discover something new. And I’ve seen it so many times. I ask in the video, but I’d love some great movie recommendations from y’all. What are some movies that do that for YOU? 👉For the screenwriters here, reminder to check out @Kinolime Screenplay Comp feature screenplay competition where the winning screenplay ACTUALLY gets optioned and fully funded. It’s open for submissions now, but the deadline is coming up. Video from Charlie Rose. Music from the movie - Open Spaces. #paulthomasanderson #danieldaylewis #therewillbeblood #acting #actor #directing #screenwriting #screenwriter #screenwriters #filmmaking #film #filmisnotdead #cinema #cinephile #motivation #inspiration

·2024-11-19Who do YOU think is the best actor of all time? Edward Norton delving into what made Brando the greatest actor of all time. It wasn’t just his actual performance of screen, it was the permission he gave an entire generation of actors. The permission to let go of the old way and lean into raw authenticity. Letting go of the polished style that seemed to make so many performances the same. Cookie cutter. Lacking a kind of darkness. Brando is the goat. And A Streetcar Named Desire is still one of the best performances of all time. In any film. ·2024-11-15Just watched Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead again recently (what Hawke is taking about here). Great film. Sidney Lumet directs the hell out of it, and the acting from Hawke and Hoffman is next level. Highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it yet. #ethanhawke #acting #actors #filmtok #filmmaking #director #screenwriter #cinema #motivation

·2024-10-31Crazy to think where he started and where he’s at now. Brad Pitt really is one of the few highly successful actors who started from nothing. No nepotism or anything. ·2024-10-24I fucking love these two. I’m reading Opposable Thumbs right now, a book that takes you behind the scenes of how these guys became the two most iconic film critics to ever do it. And holy shit… I had no idea just how impactful they were, and how monumental their show was. Both started out as small critics in Chicago, for newspapers, and worked their asses off to get their own show that was watched by millions. Doing it since the 70s. They truly changed the way so many people thought about Cinema. You can feel their passion every time they discuss a film. And who cares if you agree or disagree with them. I better not get any of those Neanderthalic comments. “Ebert was a moron!” Grow up. That’s not what it’s about. It’s about their deep care for the medium. How serious they took it. Because they knew how powerful the medium was. And hearing them argue about a movie just makes me feel inspired to go write something. If only we had more people like them right now. I mean, they had a full blown show where they just talked about movies the entire time. No bullshit. Two people in a room delving into what makes movies good or bad. And the fact that they often disagreed, and didn’t even like each other that much, is what makes them so fucking good. I highly recommend the book. Especially if you’re a real Cinema lover. #stanleykubrick #fullmetaljacket #siskelandebert #filmcritic #filmreview #cinema #filmtok #filmmaker #screenwriter #motivation

·2024-10-18Crazy to think what would have been if Al Pacino didn’t play one of the most iconic characters of all time. I absolutely love hearing these behind the scenes stories. It makes you love and appreciate the films so much more. Understanding the depth of what actually went into manifesting it. I’m definitely going to check out Pacino’s new book. His memoir. ·2024-10-17Great chat. Tarantino and PTA just chilling in Tarantino’s home theater, shooting the shit about cinema. Yeah, that’s his home theater. But they delve into some really interesting stuff about how much things have changed, the state of cinema, why it’s important to keep film alive, etc. This was just before Hateful 8 was released and after The Master.
