I can’t believe it’s been almost 5 years since I started The Painted Pug! It started on a bitterly cold February Chicago day. I was stressed from my job and needed something to work on during the dreary winter months that wasn’t “work.” I never in a million years thought I would be doing this full time just a few years later. But, I kept working on this project during every spare minute and slowly it grew and grew. Thanks to a worldwide pandemic that shifted our priorities and made crystal clear to me what I really wanted in a work environment and growing demand from our customers, I left my corporate director job in March 2022 and haven’t looked back.
That fall, I hired my first employees that worked at my dining room table and in my spare bedroom office for an entire year. In Jul 2023, thanks to all the love and support from our Painted Pug customers, I was able to move our business to the most darling building.
I live by this idea that how you treat people really matters, you can be successful AND be a decent human.
I am so honored that we were able to share so many special moments with our customers last year. I hope you will continue following along my journey of building The Painted Pug (named after our beloved pug, Amber, but that story is for another post😉).
