The American #tiktokrefugee movement is giving me life. I've been loving @Nope Brigade 's coverage and mutuals of mine sending me posts they've seen over on #rednote but could this be more than just a hilarious response to the US #tiktokban ?

I've got some research that could help...

It's the last day of Tiktok, so I thought I'd repost this video from March 2023, when the #tiktokban first started making it's way from threat to reality. As more and more US Americans head to #rednote to learn about #chineseculture and life, keep in mind how your own elected officials have a vested interest in preventing you from accessing exactly this type of information. A population undereducated about China is good for US business. #phdstudent

Being a creator isn't easy, and recent developments are helping, but I think I might have found a place for us. Especially those of us who struggle with certain aspects of how these apps regulate us, I'm thinking the kind of creators who could do well over there (I'm biased, these are the people I WANT to see over there) are activists like @Zoe @Joris_explains @Jupiterbaal @Femi and @Daviemoo, educators like @EVN the (Bio) Ethicist and @The Mor10 of the Web, academics like @Isobel🇵🇸 | Phd student @Tad Stoermer @Archaeodeath and @Dan McClellan, I really think there's potential here. There are, of course, always tradeoffs, a follower of mind was kind enough to reach out and tell me about some problems with not deplatforming extreme right-wing creators, which I will be looking into. I haven't yet processed this information, so I'll keep you updated as I do. #tiktokban #savetiktok #creatorsearchinsights

#replying to @fabedk This was a long time coming, but you're absolutely right, I needed to have deleted my account yesterday. I'd already deleted the app long ago, but for some reason I just kept hoping something would change, maybe regulations would be brought (you'd expect so, in the EU 🇪🇺, at least), but it just hasn't. Thank you for giving me the push I needed to finally deactivate my account and get off the platform. How's that for #elonmuskmotivation? #creatorsearchinsights

My first German news and events Tiktok... And what an event. For anyone who jumped on to listen to this live, whether here or over on Elon's platform... What did you think? For me, it was very strange. #worldnews #elonmusknews

And with that the 2024 season comes to an end... Hopefully taking with it these bad habits I've gotten into when it comes to living by my beliefs. How are you setting realistic goals for 2025? Living by your beliefs isn't easy, we come up against so many structural and temporal obstacles. Even just trying to avoid Amazon is made impossible by intermediary companies and the sheer diversity of Amazon's product portfolio. That's why I've set these more simple goals to at least make some positive change in a world that seems determined to stay the same. Shoutout to some creators who (from what I've seen and what I know of them) are really good at living by their beliefs: @Jupiterbaal for his work raising awareness of the repress!on protesters face in the UK; @Archaeodeath for putting his literal job on the line to call out wh!te supremacy; @Zoe for speaking truth to the horrific reality of seeking asylum in the UK; @I'm Spiritual Villain - Cope for continuing to share her expertise on racism in the workplace, despite the toll it inevitably takes; @Femi for very literally living the anti-Brexit campaign, singlehandedly raising awareness since day; @Daviemoo for still putting so much work into raising political awareness despite facing so many health issues; @Tan for facing down the misogynists each and every day to deliver political education to those who need it most; and @Aly (usa.mom.in.germany) for trying to help and educate people back home in the US, even after she "got out". #creatorsearchinsights #2025goals #realisticgoals

Replying to @andiffus Obviously, I'm a China specialist, but this is my interpretation of US healthcare insurance policy. I'd love to see what @Joris_explains or @Isobel🇵🇸 | Phd student have to say about this. Joris is fantastic for class analysis of public spaces and arenas of repression within everyday life. Isobel is writing her PhD on US politics and is absolutely ruthless when it comes to holding powerful actors accountable. #educationalpurposes #appliedbehavioranalysis #creatorsearchinsights

I got far too many comments and requests for more Luigi Mangione content, so here's another hot take. I'm obviously not a US politics specialist, I'd recommend following @Isobel🇵🇸 | Phd student for content specific to the US. All I can offer is a comparison of how the Chinese system manages single regime-threatening acts. #creatorsearchinsights #ustiktok

How the conservatives put their political agenda over science and progress. The four-day working week is a step towards more freedom for all. If it's not actually "bad for business" why can't conservatives deal with this change? #4dayworkweek #productivityhack

Check out @Crutches&Spice ♿️ : How can we understand this moment in US American history? The history of policy change around the world is made up of movements, not just the individual "Great Men" that end up written about. #luigimangione #philosophytok #academic

The US banning Tiktok is incredibly interesting for a lot of reasons, but this really just says it all for me. This tech is incredibly dangerous and needs to be regulated... Not purchased and used by governments themselves. #ustiktokban #tiktokban #creatorsearchinsights
