Long before I had a major social media presence, I came across Shorey Designs, whose incredible work with textiles and 3D prints has had me in a chokehold for years. It only took me 6 years later to get my first printer and test out designing and printing my own types of shapes for textiles. And oh what a blast it’s been! Making 3D printed geometric fabrics has been a dream come true, and what better way to pay homage to the new tech than to find inspiration from my favorite artist, Alexander McQueen, for his short stint with Givenchy (and yes, Zendaya did wear the red suit for dune!!) what kind of looks so you want to see with the 3D printer? #3dprinting #3dwearables #fantasyfashion #wearabletech

·5d ago Not glue but PLA! I love me a recycling project and this is a good one!! Not only did it use up ALL my PLA waste, but it came out super pretty too. I think this will be a go to method from now on, since it uses everything up, and I can make a stock of these for future use! Is this a good use of the waste? #3dprinting #upcycling #recycling

·6d ago Did I botch this with the front?? I don’t think so! Though I would have made changes to the pattern if I knew now then, it still came out really beautiful despite my issues with bias cuts on the front. I love the fingers!! They really pique interest while the back is the show stopper! Would you wear this?? #spinedress #sewing #fashion #booktok

·2-4Here’s more spine dress! Now that the back is done we can focus on the front, which in my opinion, isn’t as exciting as the back, but will still be GORGEOUS 🥰 . If you’re just joining us, I recently got a 3D printer and I promised I wouldn’t make plastic junk, instead using it to make fashion and wearables. This spine dress was inspired by Roberto Cavalli 2000 and from Alexander McQueen 1998. This 3D printed one is fully articulated, allowing you to move and sit and play just like your actual spine would allow! #spinedress #fashion #diyproject #diyfashion

·2-4Do you want to wear a dress like Sabrina did at last night’s Grammys? Same. But the idea of taping it to hold it up is lowkey off putting, so what could you do instead? Illusion mesh! Thinner than power mesh and stronger than you think, this fabric is used in all kind of insane pieces and would be a great way to add structure and tension to a dress like Sabrina’s for a long term personal use! It makes sense why JW ANDERSON choose not to add it to the dress for the carpet, but if you wanted to make something like this at home-maybe for a dance or a drag show, you’re gonna need something a little stronger than body tape! Hope this helps! #grammys #sabrinacarpenter #diysewing #sewing

·2-2Replying to @Ope I got this file (‘the wearable spine’ by Davemakesstuff on thingiverse) for free and then fine-tuned it to what I needed it to be! I played around with scale and proportions! I know I wanted it more flat than a real spinal column (because it’s being sewn down to a garment not inside my body) and I knew I wanted it to be metallic and shiny! It’s been fun to make, and I can’t wait to finish it!! #3dprinting #spine #wearablefashion

·2-1I was first introduced to this by one of my closest friends @Asta Darling , who was showing me some popular cosplay tips and tricks that I should try. And she was RIGHT!! These hot glue filigree pieces are incredible, they are flexible, paintable and so far, durable. I can see why they are super popular to add to your outfits!! They do take a little practice and a LOT of glue, I think next time I’ll just stick with the cheaper clear stuff instead of repainting the gold. THERE IS SOME NUANCE: this is not always going to be the right choice for your projects. If you live in hot areas you already know how hot glue acts. Sees with hot lights? Same thing. Liquid latex is a great alternative to this, but you’ll want to make sure you find some with ammonia as that will bleach clothes over time! But if you’re out to just have fun crafting, this is a great project and a great way to spice up your booktok fits for this seasons balls! #fashion #sewing #booktok #fantasyfashion #crafting
