Installing an awning window in your Sprinter van is a great way to enhance ventilation, natural light, and functionality 🚐🪟 Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you through the process: 1️⃣ Choose the Right Window: An awning-style window with a built-in bug screen allows airflow even during rain. 2️⃣ Prepare for Installation: Thoroughly read the manufacturer’s installation instructions to understand the specific requirements (and watch our videos to help 😉) 3️⃣ Measure and Mark the Cutout: Determine the exact placement and dimensions for the window and use painters tape to outline the area to be cut, protecting the surrounding surface. On these large windows, the cutout area is predetermined in the vans design making it even easier. 4️⃣ Cut the Opening: Drill pilot holes at the corners of the marked area, use a jigsaw to cut along the outline carefully, sand the edges smooth, and apply primer or paint to prevent rust. 5️⃣ Dry Fit the Window: Place the window into the opening to ensure a proper fit before sealing. 6️⃣ Apply Sealant: Apply a continuous bead of Sikaflex P2G or the recommended adhesive around the window flange. Cut the applicator tip into a ‘V’ shape to ensure an even application. 7️⃣ Install the Window: Carefully position the window into the opening, pressing firmly to ensure a tight seal. 8️⃣ Secure and Seal: Use painters tape to hold the window in place while the sealant cures. Allow the adhesive to cure for at least 24 hours before exposing it to weather conditions. 9️⃣ Interior Finishing: Install any interior trim, wall, or finishing pieces to complete the look. How to Install an Arctic Tern Skylight in Your Van 🚐✨ Adding a skylight is one of the best upgrades for natural light, ventilation, and stargazing—plus, it makes a small space feel way more open! Here’s how to install one step by step: ✅ 1. Read the manual first – Arctic Tern skylights have unique installation instructions, so don’t skip this step! 🛠️ 2. Get the right adapter – Order a roof adapter from DIYvan for a watertight seal. 📏 3. Measure & mark – The hole should be 27.5” x 19.75” (use the adapter to trace it). ✂️ 4. Cut & seal the edges – Use a jigsaw, then apply Rustoleum to the cut to prevent rust. 🧩 5. Test fit – Dry fit the skylight, roof adapter, and mounting clips. 🔗 6. How to Install a Maxxair Fan in Your Van 🚐💨 A Maxxair Fan is essential for keeping your van cool, ventilated, and free of condensation. Here’s how to install one step by step: ✅ 1. Cut the opening – Measure and cut a 14” x 14” hole in the roof. Catch metal shavings with a box & seal the edges with Rustoleum. 🛠️ 2. the last few months have been a rollercoaster to say the least 😵‍💫🎢 here’s what we’ve been up to: - bought a new van in texas - sold our first van to an incredible couple from florida which was bittersweet for us but so happy for them :’) - left the job in florida after staying way longer than we should have due to being over promised - moved back to indiana with our new van - spent ~6 weeks trying to bring our mental health back to life after being in the trenches for 9+ months - started the build for the new van - and now we’re finally putting the plan in motion to do something you all know we’re passionate about, on our own, which we should have done a long time ago 🤭🚐 if we’re being honest this has been our worst year yet, both mentally and physically, but thankfully things are looking up. while we won’t be back out on the road until the summer, this winter we’ll have a space to call our own, two van builds to keep ourselves busy, and we’ll be working with some of our favorite companies on our own van build to create the most functional full time home for ourselves. so if you’re still here, thank you for following along 🫶🏼 created by Keith and Hannah | vanlife with Keith and Hannah | vanlife’s original sound

4 steps to living vanlife in 1 year 🚐 1️⃣ set a budget: this is priority one! this determines the van you get, how you convert it, how you travel, and so much more so be realistic about what you can afford and what you need to be comfortable. 2️⃣ pick your van and layout: we recommend the sprinters and transits because you can stand up in them which makes living much more comfortable. we’ve seen so many people have tons of issues with the promaster which is why we don’t recommend it. if you’re buying used - take it to a trusted mechanic to have it looked over! before you choose a layout try to rent a van with a similar layout to what you think you want so you can get a feel for the space and decide what you need/don’t need or like/dislike. we didn’t rent a van before building ours but we wished we had! 3️⃣ DIY or hire a builder: there is a wealth of knowledge on the internet so we truly believe that anyone with a little bit of patience and determination can build a van but we also understand that not everyone wants to. when you’re looking to hire a van builder, don’t make the mistake of just looking at their online presence and talking to them - find a way to connect with their previous clients and hear their experience with the build process, the quality of the build itself, and anything else you feel is relevant. 4 things you should know before getting started with vanlife 🚐 🧺 it’s full of adventure, but “normal” life doesn’t stop either: you’re still going to have chores, bills to pay, just general life things to do - those don’t just go away so you have to find a balance between adventure and the “normal” life things 💸 it doesn’t always save you money: you can absolutely do vanlife on a budget, but that does require some sacrifice. living in a van isn’t going to automatically save you money unless you’re committed to a lower cost build, traveling slower, and minimizing costs where you can 🧠 mindset is everything: if you have a negative mindset, you will have a negative experience. there are a lot of inconveniences, challenges, and room for things to go wrong but if you approach most things with a positive mindset - they really don’t seem too bad. 🦋 it’s worth the risk: we always say, “what’s the worst that can happen?” if you actually hate it you can always return back to your old life but if you have a desire to try and don’t - you’ll regret that forever can you relate to any of these? 💭 #vanlifereality #vanliving #vanlifers #tinyliving #lifeontheroad created by Keith and Hannah | vanlife with Keith and Hannah | vanlife’s original sound

📌 save this post for when you’re planning your southwest roadtrip 🏜️ this is probably our favorite roadtrip we’ve EVER done 🥹 the Utah Mighty 5 plus a few bonus stops is just one you can’t miss! you can do this starting from major cities like Denver, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, or Phoenix - we did it from coming from Colorado and timed it perfectly at the end of summer/start of fall. Utah has SO much more to be explored even outside of national parks and we only touched on a few here. 📌 save this post for your next florida camping trip Grayton Beach State Park is a MUST STAY if you’re camping in the Florida panhandle 🏕️ There are a total of 59 campsites but they’re divided into two sections so it feels small and private and you just can’t beat the access to the beach! We paid $48 per night when we booked online.
