Grab Tiny’s Milk & Cookies and ride through River Oaks to see the Christmas lights. River Oaks is not only the wealthiest, but also one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Houston. Replying to @Infinite Wisdom Not y’all gatekeeping Navajo Fry Bread!! (Save&Share) Navajo Fry Bread is a must try snack while road-tripping through Navajo territory. I’d never heard of this fluffy yet flaky golden dough, but a handwritten sign led us to take a right to investigate this “Fry Bread for sale”. There awaited a simple stall where a Navajo couple fries us up some bread in a matter of minutes. There were two options: savory or sweet. As you can see, we opted for powdered sugar and honey. It was perfection and you better believe we went back for more. What struck me was how this fry bread shares similarities with Mexican Sopapillas and other fried breads across different cultures! As we enjoyed our fry bread we connected with a few other travelers at wooden picnic table. One couple has sold their business to move to Colorado. An older woman was road-tripping solo for months in a campervan in honor of her son who passed away. He dreamed of visiting national parks so she was ticking them off of both their bucket-lists. The short conversations that we shared with strangers while savoring every night of our fry bread made each bite that much sweeter. Have you ever heard of fry bread? Have you ever taken a detour that led you to an unforgettable meal or experience? Replying to @Ladyteeya Calling all history buffs & nature lovers! (Save & Share) Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado should be on your bucket list. It’s giving Indiana Jones!! Mesa Verde isn’t just a national park - it’s a masterclass in indigenous innovation! Can you imagine waking up to these views 700 years ago? Cliff Palace is the largest cliff dwelling in the US and the ancestral Puebloan people built this 150-room city right into the cliff face around 1190 CE! The architecture is incredible - they created this massive complex with multiple stories, 23 ceremonial chambers called kivas, and sophisticated water collection systems, all without modern tools or even the wheel. What really gets me is how they perfectly positioned everything to stay cool in summer and warm in harsh Colorado winters, and the fact that all the original wooden beams they carried from up to 60 miles away are still holding up parts of the structure today. The wildest part? This entire city, which housed around 100-120 people, was mysteriously abandoned in the late 1200s, leaving behind a perfectly preserved time capsule that wasn’t rediscovered until two ranchers stumbled upon it in 1888. Climbing the ladders and walking through the same doorways used by families 700 years ago was surreal! This was actually my 2nd time at the park, but my first time touring the dwellings. If you’re gonna drive several hours from Durango, then you’ve gotta book ahead of time to join the tour! Mesa Verde Booking Pro Tips: • Book Cliff Palace tour tickets in advance on Recreation.gov • Tours run April-October • Tickets release 14 days ahead at 8am MT • $9/person + park entrance fee • Must be okay with heights & climbing ladders • Tour length: 1 hour • Wear sturdy shoes, you’ll be climbing. • Arrive 30 mins early, the tour started right in time. • No bathrooms at site, so do your thing beforehand! Ever heard of Mesa Verde? It’s just a few hours from Durango in @Visit Colorado ! Couldn’t recommend it more #Coloradolive 📍Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado outside Durango #girlstrip #rockymountains #blackgirlstraveltoo #coloradocheck #durangocolorado #durangotrain #mesaverdenationalpark #mesaverde #nps #nationalpark #nationalparks #nationalparksusa #nationalparkservice #nationalparkgeek

BY FAR, the best train ride of my life!!(Save & Share!!) Hey Colorado!! I just got back from an incredible trip to Colorado and I’m speechless! I have so much to share, but FIRST…let’s take a moment of silence for these views. I could have cried on the entire 6 hour round trip ride on the Rocky Mountaineer Durango-Silverton train( @DSNGRR )in @Visit Colorado . And the fall colors?? I could die!!! Brought books and downloaded music, thinking three hours there & back might be a bit too long - joke’s on us! Six hours of endless rugged mountain views, unforgettable fall foliage, and the kind of conversations that only happen when you’re surrounded by this much beauty. Every single curve revealed another jaw-dropping view and it never got old. We were ooh-ing and ahhh-ing the whole way there. A quick stop in small town Silverton for some hot chai and grilled cheese was just the cherry on top. I knew Colorado was stunning, but this train took us on a journey that we’d never venture to by car or foot. If there’s ONE experience I’d recommend having in Colorado, it’s THIS!! What to Know when booking the Durango-Silverton train: Book several months ahead for fall foliage season (late September to early October) - The full roundtrip takes ~6 hours (3 hours each way) - Train departs early morning (8:00 AM is common) - don’t be late! - Elevation change is significant - bring water and stay hydrated - Temperature varies dramatically - dress in layers. It started raining at one point during our trip. - Although tiny, bathrooms are available on board. - Food and drinks allowed on train, but they also sell snacks. Pro Tips: - Sit on the right side heading up for best river views! They were incredible! - Bring a portable phone charger or two. - Pack sunscreen and chapstick (high altitude sun is intense) - Consider motion sickness meds if you’re sensitive - There’s about a 2-hour stop in Silverton - perfect for lunch and exploring! I have so much to share from my Colorado trip so yall def wanna keep up over the next few days! Trustttt! Ever traveled to Colorado? Ever heard of this train?
