Completely agree with @Beachgem10 on this one 🎄🍼 newborns are so vulnerable during the holiday season. With flu, RSV, colds, and more circulating, it’s crucial to protect your little one. Keep gatherings small, avoid passing the baby around, and make sure everyone washes their hands. And if anyone’s feeling sick, they should steer clear of the baby altogether. I also recommend alternatives like doing a quick drive-by to visit family members solo with the baby or even FaceTime calls. Keeping these boundaries isn’t always easy, but it’s so important for their health and safety! #pediatricianreacts #holidays #parentingtips #newborn

·2024-12-19#WalkingPneumonia, or Mycoplasma pneumoniae, a mild bacterial infection that often feels like a chest cold, has been on the rise. It primarily affects children and teens, with symptoms like fever, cough, and fatigue. If a cough persists beyond 5-7 days or a fever lingers past 3-5 days, consult your pediatrician for testing and antibiotic treatment to help your child recover fully.

·2024-11-6How to tell if your child has pneumonia? Pneumonia is an infection in the lungs, and it can be either primary (from someone else) or secondary (after a cold). If your child has a fever lasting more than a few days and a persistent, worsening cough for over 4-5 days, it's time to visit the pediatrician. They can listen to the lungs, perform a chest x-ray, or run tests like a nasal swab to identify the infection. Secondary pneumonia often shows up when a child’s cold worsens, with high fever and a worsening cough—another sign to see a doctor ASAP. Stay vigilant and seek medical advice! #pneumonia #pediatricianadvice #parentingtips

·3d ago Butter before bedtime? While there is no scientific evidence for or against butter helping your baby sleep, I will tell you that in general, the more you feed your baby during the day – healthy, high fat, high calorie foods – the better they will sleep throughout the night. Now, would I recommend to choose butter? No! Think about other foods high in good fats, such as avocado or nut butters, that will help keep your little one feeling satisfied. As always, consult your own pediatrician before trying anything new. Video Credit: @alissaweeman (TikTok) #butter #butterforbabies #bedtime #parentingtips #parentingadvice #pediatricianreacts

·6d ago Quick update: the flu is still here, but there’s a game changer – Xofluza! 🙌 One dose and it cuts flu time down to 3 days. For those who got the flu shot, symptoms are milder, but the flu can still knock you out. Make sure you have home tests and retest after 12-24 hours if needed! And if someone in your house gets the flu, Xofluza can help prevent it for others. Not covered by most insurances yet, but check for a coupon! Stay well, everyone! #xofluza #flu #coldandflu #pediatrician

·1w ago Parenting is hard! Some days, the best we can do is just get through the day, and that’s okay. Not every day will be perfect, and that doesn’t mean you’re failing - it means you’re human. What matters most is showing up, loving them, and trying your best. ❤️ Video Credit: @Tiffany + Caleb #pediatricianreacts #parentingadvice

·2-19Can lead exposure contribute to anemia? Well, yes, but it is not the most common cause! However, no amount of lead exposure is safe for kids. If you’re concerned about potential lead exposure to your kids, speak with your pediatrician about testing. Video Credit: @the_solodad #leadexposure #anemia #parentingtips

·2-18Parents, norovirus season is here, and it spreads fast. 🤢 One of the biggest risks? Dehydration. When kids are dealing with vomiting and diarrhea, they lose essential electrolytes—making it even harder for their bodies to recover. As a pediatrician, my #1 tip is to focus on hydration with an option that actually replenishes what’s lost. That’s why I recommend Cure Kids—it has the right balance of electrolytes without the added sugar or artificial ingredients found in many kids' drinks. ⚡ Pro tip: Small sips every few minutes can be more effective than chugging water when your child is sick. 💬 Have questions about keeping your child hydrated during norovirus? Drop them below!
