KING Misuzulu's first wife opens up.
Queen Ntokozo kaMayisela-Zulu has detailed reasons for interdicting the king from marrying a third wife.
In a detailed letter in which she asked royal family elders to intervene before she interdicted the king, she said she didn’t have a problem changing their civil marriage to customary marriage, but the problem started when the king organised a wedding while they are married in a civil marriage.
On Friday, 10 January, Queen kaMayisela (39) filed urgent court papers to interdict King Misuzulu (50) from marrying Queen Nomzamo "Masesi" Myeni and the urgent matter is set to be heard in the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Monday, 20 January.
The king is set to marry Queen Nomzamo on Sunday, 26 January.
In the letter, Queen kaMayisela stated that the king didn’t inform her that he'll marry a third wife despite them being married in a civil marriage.
Queen kaMayisela and King Misuzulu were married in 2021, and he also married his second wife, Queen Nozizwe Mulela in the same year.
Queen kaMayisela said she has never stopped the king from taking another wife.
“Me and the king are legally married in a civil marriage which doesn’t allow any of us to marry again if it still exists. When Nozizwe arrived, me and the king agreed to change our civil marriage to customary marriage, and we looked for the legal advisers.
“I'm already married to the king, but there are confusing talks that the new queen will be a first wife, and I don’t know where that comes from. The king is a symbol of culture in his nation,” she said.
She said their marriage doesn’t allow the king to be in a polygamous marriage.
“I understand that this is not in line with the Zulu culture. That's why I committed myself that we will change our civil marriage to customary marriage to accommodate culture and dignity.
“Lawyers advised us there were two ways to change our civil marriage to customary. Firstly, was to divorce and remarry but they said it would be a disgrace, and it is against customs. Secondly was to do a court application to ask the court to allow us to change our civil marriage to customary. Me and the king agreed to use the second option. We started it but in the middle of it, the king said we must stop for a moment for undisclosed reasons,” she said.
Queen kaMayisela said the king is a symbol of traditional customs and she believes his decision should be in line with culture.

·5d ago MZANSI'S top threat is poverty, not AfriForum or US President Donald Trump. This is according to the Good Party, which urged Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana to focus on the needs of the poor in his 2025 Budget Speech on Wednesday, 19 February. “In a sea of competing needs, with little wriggle room due to lethargic economic growth, the State can either continue spreading its resources so thin that their impact is barely noticeable, or it can narrow down its priorities and make hard budgetary choices. “These hard choices need to be made with an acute focus on fixing our triple crisis of unemployment, inequality and poverty," said Good Party secretary general Brett Herron. Herron emphasised the necessity for the government to prioritise access to clean water, dignified and affordable housing, and the development of public and freight transport, ports, and network industries. According to Build One South Africa's deputy leader, Nobuntu Hlazo-Webster, the budget represents a significant milestone for the Government of National Unity (GNU) as it is the first budget under the new government. “It will show the priorities of this government and will allow us, the people, to determine whether the GNU is a breath of fresh air or just more hot air,” she said. #DailySun #Budget #BudgetSpeech

·6d ago Scandal has struck the Zulu royal family as Queen Ntokozo kaMayisela, the first wife of King Misuzulu kaZwelithini, seeks to block his third marriage. While polyamory is customary among the royals, Queen Ntokozo, 39, has taken legal action to prevent the King’s planned February union with Nomzamo Myeni. Queen Ntokozo, married to Misuzulu since 2021, did not oppose his second marriage to Queen Nozizwe in 2022. However, she now claims her husband failed to inform her of his third marriage plans. She argued in the Pietermaritzburg High Court that such a union would be illegal under South African law due to their civil marriage and could deepen the royal family’s ongoing succession crisis. 🎥GETTY #zulu #southafrica #king #royalfamily #zulutiktok #royaltok

·2-17MZANSI students turn to spiritual intervention amid ongoing struggles. It's been a decade since the #FeesMustFall movement kicked off, but students still face barriers to education. At the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), about 37% of returning students remain unregistered, even after classes have started. On Thursday, 13 February, Wits students sought spiritual intervention, expressing deep frustration over their ongoing struggle to access education. This call for spiritual support highlights the urgency of the situation as students feel they've exhausted all avenues for change. Siviwe Mafuna, an unregistered student who helped organise the prayer gathering, has been involved in efforts to address financial exclusion and high tuition costs. #DailySun #Wits #witsuniversity #feesmustfall #intervention #Prayers
