If you saw on my stories, I got into a fight trying to chop a large carrot and the carrot won 😂 I ended up in the emergency room and needed 6 numbing shots in my finger, 5 stitches, and a tetanus shot. What a way to start a Monday, right?? I know we all have this deep-seeded fear of hurting our hands and not being able to crochet, knit, and do all the things that need to get done. I was super lucky that it was this finger and not literally any of the others because this is the only finger I don't actively use to crochet! 😅😅 Phew!! I'm on the road to recovery and my violin playing is a bit limited without the use of my first finger but it could have been worse I guess 😅. I was able to finish the January Kit for the @Jimmy Beans Wool | Yarn Shop 2025 Blanket Club by @Lena Skvagerson and just like last year, this blanket is starting out with some memories to go with each section. I picked up something cool that someone crocheted ☺️🧶 Crochet that ends up at the thrift store has me feeling two kinds of ways... One, it's a bit sad to see all of the blankets and handmade things donated and discarded. But, two, it makes them available to others to pick them up, give them a new life, and love them. singing it from the rooftops -- I FUGGIN LOVE MY FYBERRING😻😻🤩🤩❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 I am writing a book that features 15 really detailed crocheted dolls and after finishing the first 3 I had such a bad yarn burn that my finger was literally cut and bleeding 😭 . I tried so many rings from Amazon, Michaels, etc and none of them worked for me. I resigned myself to using bandaids all day every day to stop the burn but it was not a great solution. Then I saw a post from FyberRing and I was like, holy s**t I think this is it 🥹🤩. I ordered a ring and it's changed my life, I kid you not. The fact that this ring allows me to crochet for 8+ hours without hurting myself is a game changer. Please go visit @FyberRing Marjielous Creations and check out their stuff because it's amazing, they're amazing and I'm so grateful 🥲🥲. In this video I also wanted to share my tip for getting a bit of extra tension on your yarn without having to double wrap on your finger, it's much more comfy!! Here's what you need to work with hand dyed yarn 👇 I'm working on the @Jimmy Beans Wool | Yarn Shop crochet along hosted by @Lena Skvagerson this year and I'm ready to crochet my first square for February! The yarn I'm using is a hand dyed hank and it needs to be wound up in a cake in order to crochet with it. If you've never worked with this type of yarn before you'll need: - a yarn swift. Mine is from Michael's, it's a wooden one but there are metal and plastic versions - a yarn ball winder. Again mine is from Michael's and I actually need a better one because this one is not my favourite. I would say invest in a good winder over a good swift, it's more important. Other supplies I'm using: - a blocking mat - blocking pins from @jimmybeanswool 😍 We're on to the second month of the crochet along but it's still a great time to join in if you're looking for an amazing project!
