Democratic Rep. Raúl Grijalva of Arizona died Thursday morning after "a long and brave battle" against cancer, according to his office. He was 77. Grijalva announced in April 2024 that he had cancer after seeking medical treatment for a persistent cough, which was initially diagnosed as pneumonia. An emaciated man in Connecticut was rescued from a burning home – and as he was being treated for smoke inhalation he revealed he intentional started the fire, saying he wanted his freedom after allegedly being held captive in a room for more than 20 years. The man, who’s name has not been released, told investigators he had been held captive since he was 11 years. His stepmother, Kimberly Sullivan, has been charged with assault, kidnapping, unlawful restraint, cruelty and reckless endangerment. She denies the allegations, according to her laywers.
