We spoke to experts about the tactic and got in touch with the brand to find out more. #Aritzia #Retail #CBCNews

On Feb. 19, 1942, fake Nazis “invaded” Winnipeg. If Day was staged by the National War Finance Committee to show what life would be like under German occupation and to raise money for the war effort. For The National, the CBC’s Trishla Parekh called up Canadian War Museum historian Tim Cook to learn more about one of Canadian history's most elaborate fundraising events. Approximately $3 million was raised on If Day — equivalent to about $55 million today. #history #historytok #ww2 #ww2history#winnipeg

Elle Harris is the daughter of Morgan Harris, who was slain by a serial killer and is believed to be among remains found in a Manitoba landfill. Police believe the remains of Harris and Marcedes Myran were taken to the Prairie Green Landfill north of Winnipeg in May 2022. Jeremy Skibicki was convicted last year of murdering Harris, Myran and two other Indigenous women. Police and the former Progressive Conservative provincial government refused requests to search the landfill, citing safety concerns related to toxic materials and asbestos. The call for a landfill search resulted in protests and blockades around the city, sometimes with heated confrontations. The NDP government, elected in 2023, promised to launch a search and, in conjunction with the federal government, funded the effort that began in December after site preparation work was complete. Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew said he hopes the discovery begins a healing process on multiple levels. #MMIWG #Manitoba #CBCNews Crisis support is available for anyone affected by these reports and the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous people through a national 24-hour hotline at 1-844-413-6649.
