Before I get into how to make this MSG solution, let me just say 💬 that there are a lot of 🚫 misconceptions about MSG. Many health 🏢 organizations, have deemed MSG to be safe for most people 🙍 when consumed in normal amounts. With anything though, there are some people that could have an allergic reaction 😷 or experience sensitivities to it. These reactions are most likely to occur when consuming very high doses. 🙏 Please keep in mind that we use 1 drop 💧 of our solution we make in house which equals .084% into your cocktail. 🍸 We take 5% of the total amount of water 💦 used in grams ⚖️ and add that amount of MSG. ❓What does MSG do for your cocktail? 🍸 MSG is a commonly used flavor enhancer in food and can be used the same way in a cocktail. 🍹 MSG is going to add an umami (savory) note to your drink, deepening the flavors, balancing out sweet flavors and complementing savory ones. MSG can make flavors more vibrant and add mouthfeel or texture to your cocktail🍹 . At my bar we tend to use MSG in our stirred cocktails or when using 🧀 savory ingredients. The Mojito has a fascinating history that dates back to the 16th century. Originating in Cuba, it was initially known as “El Draque” and was created as a medicinal drink. The cocktail evolved over time, incorporating ingredients like rum, lime, mint, sugar, and soda water. The Mojito gained popularity in the 20th century and is now a beloved classic cocktail enjoyed worldwide for its refreshing taste. As for the sugar cane press, the juice extraction is delicious! You can definitely opt for leaving out the extra small spoon of sugar in your mojito and only use the sugar cane juice but, l personally needed a little more sweetness to cut the acid. Cheers to LOVE. 2oz Hibiscus Ginger LALO Tequila .75oz Tarragon Syrup .75oz Fresh Lime Juice Hibiscus Ginger Tequila 1. 1 bottle of LALO Tequila 2. 1 cup of dried hibiscus petals 3. 300 grams of ginger washed, peeled and chopped 4. Sous vide for 3 hours at 125 degrees F 5. Strain your mixture back into the bottle Tarragon Syrup 1. 30 grams of tarragon 2. 450 grams of hot water 3. Allow to steep for 20 minutes 4. Let’s talk Martinis 🍸 🫒 Here are the rules to follow: 1. A martini should never be more than 3 oz total and has a combination of Vodka or Gin and Dry Vermouth. Occasionally an olive brine is added for those who like it dirty. 2. Wet vs. Dry Wet = a lot of Dry Vermouth .75 - 1 oz Dry = little to no Dry Vermouth 0 - .25 oz 3. Vodka vs Gin Pour 2 oz of your spirit for martinis that have dry vermouth or olive brine Pour 3 oz of your spirit for martinis with no dry vermouth of olive brine 4. Dirty? Some people enjoy their martini with olive brine and for those that enjoy a Gibson might like a little onion brine 5. Shaken or Stirred While traditionally this cocktail should be stirred I think this comes down to personal preference. Stirred martinis will have more body, texture, mouthfeel and preserve the subtle nuances of the spirit and other ingredients Shaking martinis will be colder and less of the oily mouthfeel of a stirred martini. 6. My first Sangria video definitely caused more controversy than I anticipated 😅 so I thought why not do it again but with white sangria 🤭 To be honest though, it is not my intention to disrespect any cultures and I never claimed to be making a traditional sangria. 🍎 culture is what inspires me the most when I’m creating, and one of the most beautiful parts of creation is individual interpretation. 💡 I don’t have sangria batched and ready to go at my bar, but, I will always do my best to provide my guests with what they’re craving. 🤤 The recipes I’ve shared are what I offer a guest when they ask me for sangria on the fly. While it may not be traditional, the elements of a sangria are there. 💯 Over the years, I’ve learned many lessons as a bartender. Number one, ☝️ you never know who is sitting in front of you so treat everyone with the upmost respect. ❤️ Number two, ✌️ don’t ever judge someone for what they drink. People have different moods and you don’t ever know what someone is going through. I’m the type of bartender that will make you what you want if I have the ingredients to do so. I won’t judge you for drinking a blue drink, I won’t judge you for wanting a drink that should be stirred to be shaken, and I don’t have a “least favorite” drink to make. My goal is to create an experience and make a connection with you that you will always remember. 💭This has been the key 🔑 to my success. I’m not a stuffy Bartender and I don’t take myself seriously. My friends at LALO @lalospirits are making waves in the cocktail scene with their dedication to highlighting authentic Mexican culture and tequila. Lalo is a third-generation tequilero, and is the grandson of Don Julio. Lalo’s father (Lalo Sr.) and grandfather (Don Julio) were famed Mexican tequila makers, and David has spent his career working with Mexico’s top tequila producers. Today we bring you the Café Chingon, featuring flavors of fig and coffee, a pairing I personally love! See below for the recipe and please drink responsibly. Café Chingon 1 oz LALO Tequila 2 oz Cold Brew Concentrate ½ oz Fig Leaf Syrup Top with Whipped Heavy Cream Garnish: Cinnamon Shards Agave Fig Leaf Syrup Ingredients: 400 grams of water 400 grams of sugar 50 grams of fig leaves (remove stems) Instructions: Blanch the leaves (place in boiling water for 20 seconds and move to ice bath for 1 minute) This will prevent a chlorophyl taste.
