Mr. Gonzalo Co It joined the Knights of Columbus on May 1, 1958 and became known to its members as SK Along Co. He was elected Grand Knight, the highest position on the council, in 1992, and served for two terms until 1994. His first term was during the council's 36th year, which had the theme "Spirituality and Dynamic Community Services through Columbianism." Before he became Grand Knight, he initiated a fund-raising campaign for the construction of the monument of Captain Manuel Colayco, a bona fide hero of Pasay City. Even after his term, he continued to assist every major project of the council, notably the acquisition of a clubhouse known as KC 4267 Center for Charity and Spirituality. Before he founded Mercury Drug, Mariano Que worked as an employee at Farmacia Central, the biggest drugstore during pre-war. Before she founded National Bookstore, Socorro Ramos worked as a sales clerk at Goodwill Bookstore, the pioneering bookstores in the country during her time. The three of them started out as employees of their respective industries where they forged their values and characters, learned the ropes of the trade, and built their networks and connections. Eventually, they ventured as self-made entrepreneurs and established their own household names. He considered this event as one of his memorable moments as it marked the day that he shared his life, work, and legacy to the world. It was attended by family and friends, business clients, and co-members of various organizations. This included Mr. Mariano Que, the founder of Mercury Drug, and Ms. Socorro Ramos, the founder of National Bookstore.
